
These bars are simply delicious! I make them every year for my birthday using cherry pie filling
Instructions:
Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Creaming: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Incorporating Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
Combining Dry Ingredients: Combine the flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
Layering: Spread 3 cups of batter into the prepared pan. Spread the cherry pie filling over the batter.
Adding Topping: Drop the remaining batter by teaspoonfuls over the filling.
Baking: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Cooling: Cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
