Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.
Step 2: Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
- Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine, and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce.
- Pour half of the pasta mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.
- Add the remaining pasta mixture, then top with the rest of the cheddar and mozzarella.
Step 4: Bake
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
