Instructions
Preheat oven to 200°C. Lightly grease a 23-centimetre glass pie plate with vegetable oil.
In a large skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until soft, about 3 minutes.
Add ground beef to skillet. Cook, breaking apart with a spatula, until browned, about 10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Season beef and onion mixture with salt, ground black pepper, and, if desired, garlic powder.
Transfer seasoned beef and onion mixture evenly into prepared pie plate. Sprinkle grated Cheddar cheese over the meat.
In a bowl, whisk together Bisquick mix or flour, whole milk, and eggs until fully combined.
Pour batter evenly over meat and cheese layers in the pie plate. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the centre emerges clean.
Let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- For best results, allow the pie to rest for 5 minutes before slicing to ensure tidy portions.
