I Didn’t Want!!!
My ex-husband has been happily remarried for eight years, but I have always found his wife to be rude and condescending. As my 18-year-old son prepared to graduate, I felt it was important to create a positive atmosphere for this significant milestone in his life.
Therefore, I asked my ex not to bring his wife to the graduation ceremony, believing her presence would detract from the joy of the occasion. He agreed, and I felt relieved, thinking we could celebrate this special day without any tension.
The graduation ceremony went smoothly, and I was filled with pride as I watched my son receive his diploma. However, my happiness quickly turned to confusion when, after the event, my ex and our son abruptly walked away toward their car.
I called out to them, reminding them that I had planned a small celebration at my home to honor my son’s achievement.
To my dismay, my ex informed me that they were heading to his house instead. His wife had organized a large party to compensate for not attending the graduation. This revelation hit me hard, and I felt a wave of disappointment wash over me.
Just when I thought I could enjoy this moment with my son, it felt like I was being sidelined.
Then, my son made a comment that cut even deeper.
