How to Lighten a Yellowed Toilet Seat: 3 Easy Tips

1. Bleach

Bleach is a cleaning product that should never be missing in your home. It’s also the most effective way to leave your home sparkling white, streak-free, and especially disinfectant.

  • First, if the toilet seat is plastic and removable, it’s even better to rinse it in a bucket or sink.
  • We will blend a generous splash of bleach into the water where we flood it and let it sit for a while until we see that it is completely white.
  • Alternatively, if you can’t get rid of the toilet seat, use a sponge to thoroughly soak the entire seat with the bleach and water mixture. Let it sit for a while and then remove it with a cloth filled with plain water; rinsing will suffice.
  • When we delete the cover from the sink filled with water and bleach, if we don’t like the smell of bleach, we can add some soap and dry it with a clean cloth.
  • Finally, we put the toilet lid on and that’s it.

2. Whitening mixture with only 3 ingredients

If we don’t like bleach, we can use another similar disinfectant:

  • We begin by blending 4 tablespoons of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and we also add 1 tablespoon of white toothpaste, forming a paste.
  • Then we take a sponge and apply this combination all over the toilet seat, spread it, and rub lightly. We let it sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Finally, we use a cloth with water to get rid of the mixture and dry with a dry cloth.
