Homemade Natural Repellents to Keep Ants, Mosquitoes and Other Insects Away

Natural method:

  1. Stick 10 to 20 cloves into a lemon or apple  and place them in the kitchen or near windows.
  2. Add  dried lavender  near the sink or trash can.
  1. Keep rats and mice away

Black or cayenne pepper is   a powerful natural repellent.
Recipe:

  • 250 ml of water
  • 1 tablespoon liquid soap (or peppermint castile soap)
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper

Spray in corners, behind appliances or in the basement.

  1. Against weevils (food insects)

Place in your jars of  rice, flour, pasta  :

  • Bay leaves
  • Neem leaves  (in herbal medicine)
  • Cloves

These odors naturally repel them.

  1. Fight against bedbugs

Use  food-grade diatomaceous earth , a natural repellent:

Dry method:

Sprinkle on the  mattress, box spring, baseboards and dark corners.

Wet method:

  1. Mix  1 part diatomaceous earth with 4 parts water .
  2. Spray on the areas to be treated (headboard, base of bed, carpet, etc.).
  1. Keep lizards away

Lizards do not like certain strong odors.

Natural spray:

  • ½ liter of white vinegar + 1/2 water
  • 8 to 10 drops of essential oils (peppermint, cinnamon or eucalyptus)

Spray in door and window frames, near sources of heat or light.
