1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold salted water, and bring to a boil.
Cook until potatoes are fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes).
Drain and return to pot.
Add butter, milk, and optional sour cream or cream cheese.
Mash until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt. Cover and keep warm.
2. Cook the Ground Beef and Gravy:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add onions and garlic. Sauté until softened (3–5 minutes).
Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
Slowly add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 5–10 minutes until gravy thickens. Adjust seasoning if needed.
Optional: Add veggies like peas or mushrooms during simmering for more texture.
To Serve:
Scoop mashed potatoes into bowls or plates. Spoon the beef and gravy mixture generously on top. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
✅ Tips:
Add a splash of cream to the gravy for extra richness.
For a shortcut, use instant mashed potatoes or prepared gravy if you’re in a hurry.
