Instructions
Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
-
Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15β20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
-
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash until smooth.
-
Stir in the butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside and keep warm.
Cook the Ground Beef:
-
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 2β3 minutes.
-
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Make the Gravy:
-
Sprinkle the flour over the browned beef and stir until fully absorbed. Cook for 1β2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
-
Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
-
Add Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5β7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
Assemble:
-
Serve the ground beef and gravy generously over a bed of warm mashed potatoes.
