Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Beef
Begin by heating 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Once hot, add 1 pound of ground beef. Cook the beef until it’s fully browned, using your spoon or spatula to break it into small crumbles. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Once browned, drain off any excess grease to avoid a soggy texture in your dish.
Step 2: Sauté the Vegetables
With the beef still in the skillet, add in the diced red and green bell peppers and the diced onion. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 4–5 minutes. The vegetables should begin to soften but still have a bit of crunch to them, giving the dish texture and freshness.
Step 3: Add the Sauce and Seasonings
