Baked Beans & Ground Beef Casserole
Step 2: Brown the Ground Beef
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper and cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Drain any excess grease to prevent the casserole from becoming too oily.
Step 3: Build the Sauce
- Stir in the ketchup, combining well with the beef mixture.
- Add mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Taste the mixture and season with salt and black pepper to your liking.
Step 4: Add the Beans
- Pour in the pork and beans (including the juice) and gently stir to combine.
- Mix carefully to keep the beans intact for texture.
Step 5: Assemble & Bake
- Pour the entire baked bean and ground beef mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Smooth out the top with a spoon or spatula.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45-50 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 6: Serve & Enjoy
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or crispy fried onions, if desired.
ENJOY!!
