When sugar dissolves in warm water and mixes with yeast, fermentation begins. During this process, carbon dioxide (CO₂) is released — the same gas humans exhale, and the very thing mosquitoes are most attracted to.
By mimicking human breath, the trap lures mosquitoes into the container. Once inside, they struggle to escape and eventually die — all without a single drop of poison or a loud electric zap.
🏡 How to Make the Trap:
-
Cut a plastic bottle in half.
-
In the bottom half, dissolve the sugar in warm water.
-
Add the yeast and gently stir.
-
Invert the top half like a funnel and place it into the bottom.
-
Wrap the outside with black paper or foil (mosquitoes prefer dark spaces).
-
Place the trap in a quiet corner of your room or near your bed.
