Cleaning a comforter can seem like an insurmountable challenge, especially when the washing machine refuses to contain it. But don’t despair, here are some tips that will make your life easier:
First, always check the washing label. If your comforter is made from natural fibers, it is best to hand wash or take it to a laundromat.
For synthetic fiber comforters, the same recommendations apply.
If the washing machine is not an option, your bathroom becomes your ally. Here’s a simple method:
soak your comforter in a bathtub filled with hot water with two tablespoons of baking soda, a tablespoon of vinegar and a few pieces of Marseille soap. Be sure to rinse the comforter well to avoid product residue.
If you just want to freshen up your comforter, opt for dry cleaning. Prepare a solution by mixing 25 drops of tea tree essential oil, 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and three tablespoons of baking soda in half a liter of water.
